Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Duet mobile application, the Duet website and related support services (collectively, “Duet,” “we,” “us” or “our”). Duet is a daily relationship companion for couples; it is not a social network, messaging service or therapy service.

By using Duet, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the service.

2. Information we handle

Anonymous account and profile information

Duet creates an anonymous Firebase account when the app starts. We process a randomly generated user identifier, account creation and update timestamps, onboarding status and app version context. Duet does not require an email address, password or public profile.

If you choose to provide them, we store the two partner names, relationship type, anniversary date, selected interests and preferred reminder time so the app can personalize your experience.

Activity and app usage information

We process limited usage events such as onboarding completion, question or game completion, paywall views and purchase or restore events. These events help us understand reliability and feature use. We do not send the text of private answers, messages or notes to analytics.

Purchases and subscription information

If you view or purchase Duet Pro, we process product identifiers, offering information and subscription entitlement status. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google; Duet does not receive or store your full payment card information.

Information stored only on your device

Written answers in the private answer flow remain in screen-local memory and are discarded when that flow ends. Saved questions, daily completion history, content cache, language preference and local reminder schedule may be stored on your device. Local data is generally removed when you delete the app, subject to your device backup settings.

Support communications

If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message and anonymous user ID if you provide it for troubleshooting or a deletion request.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• create and maintain your anonymous Duet account;
• personalize questions, games, reminders and app content;
• provide and restore Duet Pro entitlements;
• deliver requested support and respond to privacy requests;
• measure feature performance, prevent abuse and improve Duet;
• protect users, enforce our terms and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use private answer content for advertising, analytics or artificial intelligence training. Duet does not display third-party ads.

4. Service providers

We use trusted service providers to operate Duet. They process information for the purposes described above and under their own terms and privacy commitments:

• Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, cloud database, app content, analytics and supporting infrastructure. Google Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat — subscription offerings, entitlement status and purchase restoration. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution, purchases, billing and refunds under the store provider’s terms.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, transfers are protected by contractual and legal safeguards used by the relevant provider.

5. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We do not share private answer content with advertisers or data brokers. Information may be shared:

• with the service providers listed above to operate Duet;
• when you ask us to share it or give clear consent;
• to comply with law, court orders or valid government requests;
• to protect the rights, safety and integrity of Duet or its users;
• as part of a merger, financing or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.

6. Retention and deletion

Cloud profile data is kept while your anonymous account remains active and as needed to provide Duet. Support emails may be retained as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain security records and meet legal obligations. Aggregated or de-identified statistics may be retained where they can no longer reasonably identify you.

You may request deletion of your anonymous account and associated cloud profile data at any time. Include your Duet user ID, available from the Profile screen, so we can locate the correct anonymous account. We may request reasonable verification before completing the deletion. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

• Edit relationship names, reminder settings and language in Profile.
• Disable notifications in Duet or your device settings.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple or Google account.
• Request access or deletion by contacting us.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already completed lawfully. Some information may be retained where required for fraud prevention, security, accounting or other legal obligations.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections, UID-scoped access rules and limited access to production services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Duet is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to Duet, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Duet changes. We will post the revised policy here, update the “last updated” date and provide additional notice when required by law. Material changes apply prospectively.
